  • Irish Harp Reserve Upgrade - January Update

Great progress is being made on the reserve upgrade, thanks to the efforts of LCS Landscapes, the company engaged by the Council for the project. The construction is currently on schedule and is set to be completed by March.

Several key activities are underway, including the applicatoin of water to control dust in the bare earth area, trimming of overhanging trees around paths and play areas, and the relocation of an active bee nest to an Upper Sturt cherry orchard by a skilled beekeeper.

The constructoin team is hard at work with earthworks, subbase installation for paving, and the final touches on irrigation renewal. Concrete paths are already in place, and a concreter is crafting new edging. Solar lighting installation has been successfully completed, bringing a bright touch to the upgraded reserve.

Exciting additions include the installation of the large play structure, rocks, and logs. A local artist is putting the finishing touches on an amazing airplane play feature, connecting it to the site's rich history.

In the spirit of community involvement, the adjacent Prospect Kindergarten is being kept in the loop with regular updates from the Council's Project Manager. Staff at the kindergarten have been wonderfully supportive, and discussions are underway to potentially involve kindergarten children in painting a wall mural along the eastern end of the park. This initiative aims to foster a sense of connection between the children and the upgraded reserve.

Stay tuned for more updates as we eagerly anticipate the completion of this fantastic community project!
