New Exeloo for Charles Cane Reserve

Do you have a question?

After the consultation period closes on 2 June, we’ll review all feedback and ideas shared by the community. This information, which will be summarised in a Community Engagement Report, will help shape the location and layout of the Exeloo during the detailed design phase and will be presented to Council in August 2026. The Community Engagement Report will also be available for the community to view on Council’s Engagement Hub website.

This will be the first Exeloo to be installed for City of Prospect.

The Exeloo is proposed to be installed in the second half of 2026/2027, subject to adoption of the 2026/2027Annual Business Plan and Budget.

The key steps will include:

  • Supply and install of an Exeloo
  • Services connections
  • Vinyl wrap including artwork
  • Connecting paths to existing activity areas
  • Minor civil works

The exterior of the facility will likely feature a vinyl wrap incorporating public art. We will work closely with our Gallery and Public Art Coordinator to develop and deliver the artwork as part of this project.

We propose to install at least one fully accessible toilet to ensure that wheelchair users and people with mobility needs can use the facility comfortably and safely. Accessible paths will connect the toilet to the existing park network and the adjacent footpath, providing smooth, unobstructed access for all visitors.

No. The Exeloo will be open during daylight hours and locked each evening.

Although the Exeloo has a self-cleaning function, manual cleaning will still be undertaken by City of Prospect but at a reduced frequency compared to regular non-self-cleaning toilets.

In the event of a power outage, the door can be opened by pressing the emergency quick release button.

Safety is supported through visibility and passive surveillance of the Exeloo, lighting and regular maintenance.
