The DAIP is a four-year strategy that sets out how City of Prospect will improve access, inclusion, and equity for people with disability across all aspects of community life, including infrastructure, services, communication, and decision-making.

Our previous plan has expired, and we’re required by the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 (SA) to update our plan. The new DAIP must align with the State Government's updated State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025–2029.

The actions were developed based on:

• Progress and gaps identified in the previous DAIP
• New requirements from the State Disability Inclusion Plan
• The lived experiences and strategic advice of the Advisory Group.

While the initial draft was co-designed with Council’s Access and Inclusion Community Advisory Group and expert partners like Purple Orange, who represent the lived experience of disability, we want to hear feedback from our broader community too. We’re consulting now with the broader community, businesses, and service providers to validate their priorities and refine the specific actions before the Plan is finalised.

We’re accepting feedback in multiple accessible formats, including our survey (with skip logic), written submissions, and audio, video, or artwork submissions.

We are primarily seeking feedback on the actions and measures designed to achieve the four core priorities. The four priorities and the basic Plan structure are set by the State Government framework and are non-negotiable. However, we absolutely welcome suggestions for specific, achievable new actions.

Following the consultation, Council will prepare a Community Engagement Report. This report will be presented to Council and will be used to inform any changes to the final Plan. This report will also be published on the Engagement Hub.

The DAIP is a strategic plan that sets out Council's commitment and intention. While many actions are part of ongoing operational budgets, other larger projects (like infrastructure upgrades) must be considered and prioritised through Council's annual budget and capital works programs. The DAIP acts as the core evidence base to justify and prioritise these future funding requests.

The Plan will be reviewed annually. If financial or other constraints mean an action cannot be achieved in a specific year, the action will be reviewed, prioritised, or deferred to a later year of the plan.

The final Plan will be presented to Council for adoption in January 2026. It must then be submitted to the Minister for Human Services by the 14 February 2026 deadline.
