Broadview Oval Community and Sports Hub

$5.2 million dollars ($5.2M) has been secured to build the new Broadview Community and Sports Hub ($1.5M of State Government grant funding plus $3.7M commitment from Council).

Construction of the new facility will commence in January 2023. 

Yes, members of the community will be able to hire the inclusive spaces. Whilst the hire details are yet to be finalised, the inclusive venue includes kitchen facilities and accessible amenities. If you’re interested in hiring this space, register your interest via email admin@prospect.sa.gov.au.

The existing Broadview Football Clubrooms will be demolished and replaced with new a facility including two venue spaces for community hire, a gymnasium available for community use, unisex sporting changerooms, accessible amenities and a cafe/kiosk.

The former footprint of the clubrooms will be altered to new landscaped areas, additional tree planting and a carpark for the precinct.
 

The existing club rooms will be in use during the construction phase and are likely to be in use until the new Hub has been completed.

A construction site will be established in the existing car park and access will be maintained to the oval around the construction site.

During the works car parking will be restricted on the site, however at project completion, additional parking spaces will be provided in the location of the current clubrooms.

The unregulated pepper trees located central to the western oval boundary have been approved for removal. This will allow the running track to be re-aligned, access in and out of the new facility and improve the sight lines to the oval.

In addition to the nine new trees planted as a part of the Playspace Upgrade, an additional eight trees will be planted.

Membership of the Community Reference Group will include a range of relevant community representatives, including:

• Chair – staff member from Council 
• Mayor O’Loughlin
• 2 Ward Councillors 
• Up to 2 representatives of the Broadview Football Club as nominated by the Club
• 1 representative of the Prospect District Cricket Club as nominated by the Club
• 1 representative of the Prospect Broadview Bowling Club as nominated by the Club
• 1 Immediate neighbourhood representative (i.e. Poltawa Terrace) appointed by the Council
• 1 representative of the Broadview Tennis Club as nominated by the Club
• 1 representative of the Collingrove Tennis Club as nominated by the Club
• Up to 4 Community representatives appointed by the Council

The Community Reference Group will serve as an important link from the community to the Project Control Group (comprised of Elected Members and senior staff), providing information and advice, reflecting the concerns and issues of stakeholders and the general public.  Examples of things that the group can influence include design considerations, naming, etc. 

The Broadview Playspace and Dog Park upgrades have been completed.

Aspects of the Master Plan yet to be completed include:

• Construction of new Tennis Club building (accommodating both Tennis Clubs)
• Replacement of former Croquet Club with four additional tennis courts
• Addition of four cricket nets with bowler run up area able to double as a warm up area for football (to replace an existing public access tennis court that doubles as a half-court basketball court)
• Establishment of a small skate park
• Refurbishment of Lawn Bowls clubrooms and upgrades to bowling greens
• New public toilets
• Installation of lighting to running track
• Upgrades to car parking across the site
