Strategic Community Plan consulation details:
City of Prospect invites you to help shape the future of our city, as we look to design a new Strategic Community Plan.

Consultation is now open for the community to provide feedback on the vision and objectives Council has identified for the next four to ten years and City of Prospect’s goals and priorities.

Community consultation opens Tuesday, 17 October and closes at 5pm Tuesday, 7 November 2023.

  • 2022 Resident Survey

    November 2022 to January 2023

    Biannual resident survey conducted via a mixed methodology of online, face to face and telephone. This information will help guide Council when drafting the plan and inform the initial consultation (Phase 1).

    12 February to 4 March 2023

    Initial consultation to understand community perspective on top priority considerations.
  • Strategic Planning (Council Workshop)

    April-May 2023

    Planning Workshop to establish a strategic framework, vision, principles, and initial goals to guide the Strategic Community Plan, based on Phase 1 Consultation and the 2022 Resident Survey.
  • Consultation | Phase 2

    July 2023

    Community consultation on the key priorities and principles identified in Phase 1 to ensure that the Draft Strategic Community Plan will reflect the community's vision, aspirations, and values. The consultation will involve targeted focus groups and an online poll to gather general community feedback.

    1 August 2023

    Council Workshop to discuss the outcomes of the Phase 2 Consultation, which will help refine the draft plan.

    22 August 2023
    Council Meeting to present the report containing the findings from Phase 2 of the Community Consultation (Focus Group).
  • Council Meeting | Phase 3

    26 September 2023

    Council Meeting to endorse the Draft Strategic Community Plan for Community Consultation.

    17 October - 7 November 2023

    Community consultation on the revised draft Strategic Community Plan to refine the plan and ensure it reflects broader community expectations.  
  • Endorse Strategic Community Plan (Council Meeting)

    28 November 2023

    Present the draft Strategic Community Plan, incorporating the feedback gathered from the Phase 3 Consultation, and seek Council endorsement to proceed with the final plan approval.

The Strategic Community Plan will be City of Prospect's key strategic planning document that sets out Council's vision and objectives for the next four years, setting a desired future for the community, as well as our goals and priorities.

As we prepare this document, we're inviting you to participate so we can ensure the community's priorities are accurately represented.

Community consultation has been conducted across three phases during 2023:

  • Phase 1: Community priorities (12 Feb to 5 Mar 2023) | CLOSED
  • Phase 2: Community Focus Group (Jul 2023) | CLOSED
  • Phase 3: Community feedback on the Draft Plan (17 October – 7 November 2023) | STARTED

The Strategic Community Plan will be Council’s key strategic planning document that sets out its vision and objectives for the next four to ten years, setting a desired future for the community, as well as the City of Prospect’s goals and priorities. 

Council is required by the Local Government Act 1999 to regularly review and renew its Strategic Plan/Community Plan within two years of each election cycle, setting the direction for Council activities.

The Strategic Community Plan is an important plan that has an impact on everyone. We would like to engage in multiple conversations with as many people in the community, so that we can identify the vision for what the future City could look like over the next four (4) to ten (10) years.

Community consultation will be conducted over three phases, as outlined in the 'Timeline'. When consultation is open, we will update the 'Latest News' section to inform everyone of the opportunities to particpate.

Your priorities, suggestions, concerns and comments will be provided to Council for their consideration and will help to refine the Strategic Community Plan towards completion.
