Each year, Council develops a draft Annual Business Plan and Budget, guided by an overall planning framework.

Since our initial consultation in May 2023, three new strategic opportunities became available which Council pursued. As a result, we are re-engaging with our community.

Changes to the draft Annual Business Plan and Budget include:

  • $8.3m to purchase a 5,522m2 plot of land adjoining Prospect Oval, at 142-148 Main North Road, allowing Council to expand and enhance the Prospect Oval precinct for our community.
  • $200,000 allocated to upgrade the lighting design at Prospect Oval to AFL standard, making the site ready forpotential AFL Gather Round fixtures and future broadcasting of national cricket matches.
  • An increase in differential rating for vacant land.

With the proposed changes outlined above and a 1% rate increase from 5.75% (as proposed in the previous consultation) to 6.75%, the Amended Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2023-2024 is now open for consultation.

How should Council spend your rates?

Council is drafting its Annual Business Plan and Budget 2023-24 and want to know what you think.

The Annual Business Plan and Budget 2023-24 is Council’s key annual operational and financial planning document.

It sets out the key projects, priorities and services that we will deliver, our sources of revenue, and how we propose to allocate our budget and other resources to achieve this.

Each year, Council invites residents, ratepayers, and businesses to participate to ensure the community's priorities are accurately represented.

In early 2023, community consultation was opened to seek feedback on the Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2023-24.

The input received was instrumental in determining the projects, priorities, and services that are important to the community and, and assisted Council in allocating budget resources to work towards the goals outlined by the residents during the engagement process, including a stronger focus on environmental outcomes, traffic management and heritage protection.

A summary of this initial round of community consultation can be found in the Document Library on the right.
